Finn Says, “It’s GeoDog Day!!”

Hewwwow!! Finnackles here, telling you about the cache I helped Momma find. Check it out GC2N6BV – The Way a Sandwich Should Be (1996-2000). Momma had me out and said she needed my sniffer to find this one. It was actually hidden with a magnet under this random sign in a strip mall.

We looked to the right to make sure there weren’t any muggles around when we grabbed it.

We looked to the left to make sure there weren’t any muggles around when we grabbed it.

Anyone see what’s behind me? A Subway shop. And their slogan was “The Way a Sandwich Should Be” from 1996-2000 (apparently!  We looked it up when we got home). The sign where the cache was hidden was directly across from the shop in the parking lot.

There’s the cache! Our log was rolled up inside there. We signed it and put it back so the next person could find it. Geodog Finn here, hoping you all had a great time looking for your caches!

Over and out!

PS – Make sure to hook up with the linky link over at Gizmo’s if you’re joining us on your geocache adventure today!  And….last but not least…I would like to thank my outdoor partner in crime today for hosting this event!  You rock Gizmo!

Charley Says, “It’s Geodog Day!!”

Hi guys!  We can’t wait to see where you took your peeps for GeoDog Day!  And, have you seen Head Cheerleader Madi today?  She knows how tough it is to sniff out those caches so she is cheering us on!

GeoDog Charley up!  I am back in Patchogue with my friend Maya and we are out looking for virtual cache GC86F8 – Sticky Situation. The map took us just a little bit behind the Main Street in town, and we knew we were looking for something sticky from the description (and name).  Can you see what we found?

How about now?

I think Maya was trying to get a taste! Here it is close-up!

Reminds me of a smaller version of the alley way in Seattle, if you have ever been there. Once we made our find, we had to email the person who set up the cache what we would name it and if we had a contribution. We did not make make a contribution (gross!) and I called it Bubble Gum Alley!

The cache was right next to a church, and since we were there on a Sunday, we had a little listen to some music and said a prayer.  I wanted to go inside and see if Goose’s Mom was there with Goose and Murphy & Stanley, but my Momma told me they weren’t there.  Sorry guys, I tried!

GeoDog Charley reporting here, cache found.  Over and out.

We Are Winning! (And Not in a Charlie Sheen Type of Way)

Last month there was very interesting smelling parcel that came in the mail and it was addressed to US!  We couldn’t believe it.  Momma helped us unpack it and look at what we found in it!

IMG_1531
Yummo! We won Dolly the Doxie’s giveaway and look at all that!  We asked for a treat rightaway!  Charley was too quick to capture on camera, but as I am a model and understand the art of camera seduction, Momma was able to snap this picture.

IMG_1533
Nom, nom, nom. YUMMY. And then we asked Momma to give us some of the dinner one night. Looking good!

IMG_1539

All eight paws agree! Thank you Dolly for having the giveaway! We looooved our meals and snacks!

You Decide

Charley.

Dog?

Or Gecko?

Just kidding.  I like the way his legs stick out to the sides like that when he is snoozing.

A family friend was over earlier in the month and told us that he looked part Saluki.  We had no idea what that was, so we looked it up.

daxlore_now

Now we are convinced.  The eyes and the snout are just spot on.  Remember when we first got him, I had a sneaking suspicion we had been lied to regarding his past, but we let it go. Now we feel like this is the piece of the puzzle we were missing.  We’ve thought about getting a DNA test, but in the end, I don’t really see a point.

Don’t worry Charley, you’re not going anywhere. We love ya, golden or saluki, or any combination of the two.

Wind Sprints with Charley

Wordy Wednesday!
If you signed up for the Christmas in July, you should have received an email by now with your swap partner. Today, Sprinkles will have all the partners listed on her blog. Stop on over and see who is participating this year!

And, I am sorry about the problem with this post! When I created it on Saturday, I accidentally set it to post on 7/4 instead of 7/24. So those of you who get email notifications saw that I had a new post. But then I set it to a future date and you couldn’t see it. Here it is! Hope it was well worth the wait!

Well, I have had enough.  Enough of summer, enough of the heat, enough of being lazy.  Finn is not a fan of the heat but Charley doesn’t seem to mind as much.  So after reading this post last week at To Dog with Love, I decided Charley and I were doing wind sprints.

Our development ends near our backyard, so I decided we were going to use three points to run towards and then head back to our starting point.

1.  The basketball hoop

2.  The bend in the road

3.  Go around the bend in the road to the left of #2 back around to #3, back to start.

I was prepared with the Get Off Your Butt, Work Out With Your Mutt shirt from Slim Doggy.  That’s right.  Finn and Charley got it for me for my birthday.  Little did they know it meant they would be getting of their butts too.  Muh huh huh *evil laugh*

IMG_1451

Ok, here we go…

IMG_1456

I could probably add this on to our early morning walks from time to time.  I know Charley got a little warm because on our way around the loop, he just caught across the grass back to our house.  I really had no problem with that, it was super hot!

I also want to give a shout out to Jack Joseph’s Mom.  She’s been doing a monthly fitness challenge and her posts motivated me to do this too.  She doesn’t know it, but one day when there was just me in the office, I did ten burpees in the conference room.  It was awesome!

Our Nice Long Weekend

Hewwwow fur-ends!  Oh man, did we have the best weekend.  Not only was it Independence Day (remember, it’s not the fourth of July because you don’t call Christmas the 25th of December, do you??!?), but it was also Momma’s and Grandma’s birthdays!!  Woohoo.  So, on Thursday, Grandma and Grandpa came over to help celebrate.  They brought Charley some gifts for his birthday last week.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And I tried to win Grandma over some more by just being persistent, really. She seemed thrilled that I wanted in on that birthday cake!  Look at those brownies!  Pet me woman and give me something to eat!!!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Thursday night we did okay with the fireworks. Momma put me in my thundershirt and I slept fine after that. And Charley didn’t even seem bothered at all.

It was HOT this weekend, so Momma and Pops took us down to the lake on Friday. I wanted to go over and say hello to all my friends, but they were busy snacking.

photo-149

So I practiced my swimming. Wally, look at me goooooo!

photo-148

Even Charley got in on the action. A little.  We see all four of your paws are submerged!

photo-150

Then on Saturday we went out to The Big Duck. I had been here last year, but it was Charley’s first time.  Pops said Charley was acting up, so he had to be taught a lesson!  Just kidding.  He’s fine, really.

photo-154

Anyways, here I am in front of The Big Duck.

photo-155

And while we were there, we stopped to find the geocache that had been hidden there, GC16HMH, The Big Duck.  We found the cache (that little black thing in Pop’s hand), signed the log inside, and put it back for the next person to find.  You might want to check out that website and familiarize yourself with how to play.  I mean, you never know, Gizmo and I could be sending you out on a geocaching day in the near future, *cough* August *cough*.

photo-156

And today Momma says maybe we will go back to the lake! I see the shampoo and conditioner making an appearance though, so I am hoping we are going to the lake before the bath! Four day weekends are just the best, don’t you guys think!!!

Now make sure to come by on Tuesday.  I am helping my friend Sprinkles with a special treat for Blogville residents.  See you then, ok….
