Dudes, I’m Alright

Hey dudes, Charley here.  Heard that the Momma told you about my trip to the V-E-T.  Thanks guys for all of your concern.  The V-E-T gave me some special cleaner and some drops that I have to take for two weeks.  I am already feeling better and playing with Finn more.  AND, the peeps say they are gonna feed me more food every day so I can gain weight.  Totally awesome.

So like on Wednesday, I turned ONE!  Momma and Pops got me some CAKE from our local bakery.  Yup, a doggie cake.  Made with all sorts of delicious fattening goodness.

Yup, that’s my paw trying to get close! And you see those biscuits on the side? Excellent.

I got a piece.

So did Finn.

Then we played with some new toys that night and I made my peeps give me some extra hugs.

Cause I am ONE. And it’s awesome.

My Future’s So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades

Today we are joining Franky & Ernie and Ranger in wearing our shades.

Sing along, would ya….

I study nuclear science, I love my classes
I got a crazy teacher who wears dark glasses
Things are going great, and they’re only getting better
I’m doing all right, getting good grades
The future’s so bright I gotta wear shades

I gotta job waiting for my graduation
Fifty thou a year will buy a lotta beer
Things are going great, and they’re only getting better
I’m doing all right, getting good grades
The future’s so bright I gotta wear shades

I’m heavenly blessed and worldy wise
I’m a peeping-tom techy with x-ray eyes
Things are going great, and they’re only getting better
I’m doing all right, getting good grades
The future’s so bright I gotta wear shades

Yeah, I’m doing all right, getting good grades
The future’s so bright I gotta wear shades
I’m doing all right, getting good grades
The future’s so bright I gotta wear shades
Yeah I’m doing all right, getting good grades
The future’s so bright I gotta wear shades
I gotta wear shades, I gotta wear shades
Gotta wear shades, got to wear shades
I’m heavenly blessed and worldy wise
I’m a peeping tom techy with x-ray eyes…..

Trip to the V-E-T

Ugh, Momma here.  I will spare you the photos today and just describe.

Charley has always produced more ear wax then Finn, and since he’s been with us now, I’ve cleaned his ears out once a week and all has been fine.  Well, last week I noticed there was a wax explosion in his ear and I started to clean it out every other day.  Then his ear got all red with little white spots and the wax wouldn’t stop coming.  We decided this was beyond our control and made the appointment.

So, he has a yeast infection in his ear.  We have meds to give him for that for the next two weeks.  If it comes back, it could mean an allergy.

Then, the vet starts to poke around.  He’ll be one year this week (have no fear, there will be cake), and he weighs 43 pounds.   Since we’ve had him, he has only gained 6 pounds.  Not good.  I wonder if you bigger dog owners weigh your dogs?  Because the vet looked at me like I was nuts when I said we didn’t weigh him regularly but he really is growing.  I know he has gotten bigger and longer.  It’s not like he’s going to fit on a regular scale so how the heck would I be able to weigh him regularly?  Whatever.

So, we have done a parasite test and some blood work to see if there is a liver shunt.  We will find out today, but we really have no idea what to expect.  I am hoping for not too horrible news but am kind of feeling like a bad dog Momma right now.

We Met the Urban Hounds!!

Well…three of them!  Do you know Kate and her Urban Hounds?  She had always wanted to take some of her crew to a winery and since we live out near some, she asked Momma and I to join her!  How cool is that!

So, Saturday morning, Momma packed me up and we were on our way.  And here they are!  Say hi to Kate & John and Ping, Tubby and Weasley.

Turn around guys!  It was so hard to concentrate with all these animals around.  We got to sniff at some horses, llamas, sheep and piggies too.

Here I am with Weasley getting a sniff at some of our new friends.  It was so awesome.  The peeps chatted and we walked around for a bit.  The next thing we knew, two hours had flown by and my friends had to be on their way.  Before they left, I made sure Miss Kate gave me a little bit of love.

So until next time Urban Hounds…we hope to see you again!

If you haven’t heard by now, our friend Benny needs some help working his way though his diagnosis with liver cancer.  If you haven’t been by his blog to see what you can do to help, stop by here.  Every little bit helps.

Benny buddy, we are with ya all the way while you fight through this!  See, we even got our Frenchie scarves on today too!  Well, maybe they aren’t Frenchie scarves, but we got scarves on!!!  We’ve got your back!

Dear Wally,

Do you still love me even when I look like this?

Love, Finn

Dog oh dog, we couldn’t believe our little wagging tails when Momma told us that GRANDMA would be coming for a visit!!  We LOOOOVE her but for some reason, she always keeps asking Momma about non-furry grandbabies.  We don’t understand why.

Grandma always brings us the best treats and this time around, Momma enlisted her help in giving us a walk.  We are really impressed.  See, even though we jump on her and give her lots of licks and kisses and don’t leave her alone when she’s here, she just doesn’t seem to want to, you know, play with us.  So we were super stoked Grandma jumped in this time around.  Love you Grandma, see you next time.  Licks – Finnie and Charley

Way to go Ma, I am really proud of you.  And thank you for helping me walk Charley. Love, Marianne

Charley Goes Geocaching!

Well, when I took Finn geocaching, my buddy Sammy said that I should take Charley too, and so I decided to do just that.  This time, I drove to the edge of my town, to have the opportunity to look for a different cache.  I found one that was very close to where we were, called BigHeadEd’s Lakeside Camo Hide.

When we got to the lake, we looked at the hint and were told to follow the fence. So, we walked along the fence with our compass until our direction changed from getting warmer and warmer to getting colder and colder. This is what we spotted:

I couldn’t juggle the phone, the camera, Charley, the weeds (tick check quickly followed), and muggles (non geocachers, LOL!) so I didn’t open it up and sign it. Instead, Charley and I hung out by the lake and took in some sun.

When I got home, I logged in my find, and saw that some other folks had been saying that this one was hard to find, maybe the winter storms had blown it away. So, I wonder if I found the cache or just some garbage. It really doesn’t matter, Charley had a great time and he had never been over to this lake before.

Some of you all had questions about geocaching the last time we went – there are caches on every continent! And would you believe, up in outer space (at the International Space Station). So when you go to the geocaching website you put in your city and country, and they tell you where the nearest caches are to you.  If you download the app, it uses your location on your phone to tell which ones are nearby.  If you don’t have the app, you have to print out the location information from your PC. It’s fun, I promise.  And you can enjoy some place new. Try it out and let me know what you found, ok?

PS…Momma here…I am having a little trouble with my eye and seeing the computer and stuff.  Went to the dr yesterday and need to lay low for a while.  Posts occurring as usual, just less comments from Finn & Charley.  See ya soon I hope!
