Water Bottle Puzzle

Well, we read about this yesterday on our friend Harper Lee’s blog so we can’t take full credit, but we did have a lot of fun!

Step 1.  Empty out a water bottle.  Finn knows this is lip-smacking delicious!

Step 2.  Fill with treats. We broke a big biscuit in half and crumbled it into each bottle and then threw in two training treats a piece.

Step 3. Watch the dogs go crazy trying to get the treats out.

Aaaaand the final products.  I think Finn just smashed the treats into tinier pieces and licked them out, while Charley went for the more violent method of destroying the bottle head to get them out.  In the end I helped them get the pieces out before they choked on the pieces of plastic bottle they were chewing off and they seemed pretty pleased about that.  Thanks Miss Harper Lee for the idea!  We will definitely do again on another rainy night!

Nice idea. I like to play with water bottles, I think it is that crunchy noise they make.

Finn and Charley….. this is a super FUN FOOD idea… we are gonna have mom help us with this one… Butt she will be watchin to make sure we don’t eat the bottle, just like YOUR mom did. You really did REDUCE and REUSE those bottles!!

We always have to watch Monty – he destroys those and eats the plastic. I’m glad you all had fun!

We like to play with plastic bottles too, but nobody has ever put treats in them. We will have to make sure our parents read this.

Great idea. It can be improved upon. Just eliminate the bottles and I can get to the heart of the matter more quickly.

I am so happy that Finn and Charley had such a good time, and I love that first picture of Finn! I stuck my tongue into the bottle to try to lick the treats out, too, but it didn’t work.

SHE tried that a couple of years ago…I, Daisy, gave up after a few minutes but Kendra just chomped through the bottle and got the treats. Didn’t take long.

That looks like such a cool idea. I told My Vickie about it and she said “No Bert, You eat everything I give you” I told her that was the idea, to get to the treats to eat and she said “No Bert, because you wouldn’t just eat the treats but you would eat the plastic on the way to the treats” Man, I just can’t win…….
    Take care Finn

Howdy Finn and Charley, that is a great idea. We used to play with a plastic bottle with a peg inside when we were pups. It made a great noise and would roll all over the floor. See ya soon. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

What fun! I saw a video, once, for making a treat container that was a little sturdier. It involved the big plastic pretzel containers with screw on lids. Cut holes in the sides for treats to fall out when it rolls. Or something. But they don’t chomp to bits so easily.

Great idea! We give Molly empty bottles that she just chews and plays with but TREATS inside would be more fun!
