The Rug

Before we get started, make sure to head on over to the Pet Blogger Mall to VOTE on the logo and the design!  The design submissions are just awesome!

And, as you know Park Day 2.0 has ended!!!  Thank you to everydog who has participated.  We hope you had a lot of fun!!  Momma and Gizmo’s Momma will be speaking this evening to pull the winners from the randomizer and we shall be announcing the winners of our prizes later in the week….so stay tuned.

Now, we have this rug in our living room that makes its way into many of our posts. Finn was a terror and chewed the edges and the corners. We trimmed the corners and sprayed the edges so she wouldn’t munch on them anymore. Trust was established. We toyed with the idea of replacing the rug. (We have a nice new one upstairs in a spare closet, all ready to roll!)

Then, we toyed with the idea of getting a second dog.  We thought about it and talked about it for 6 months.  So, we kept the crappy carpet down.  We finally got Charley. He isn’t really much of a muncher really, but we didn’t want to swap out the carpet right away, just in case.  And lately, we had been establishing trust with him. Letting him out of the crate more often. Letting him snooze overnight without our constant supervision. Trust crumbled. Now Charley is peeing inside again, on the rug. We are sure glad we didn’t swap it out. Sorry folks, you’ll just have to continue looking at our frayed and crappy carpet.  Maybe I am telling you all this because I need to tell myself, sorry Finnie’s Momma, you’ll just have to continue looking at your frayed and crappy carpet.

We cannot say that we have noticed your carpet being frayed or cr@ppy. Butt if it makes you feel better, our carpet (which also features in many of our pictures) has to be washed at least once every month or so because it gets really grubby from us wrestling on it, wiping our faces on it after a particularly good dinner, chewing bones / hides on it and of course that one time Sammy did piddle on it *BOL*

Every furmily should have a cr@appy carpet!!

Oh it doesn’t look bad at all. You should see our kitchen one which Pip keeps having accidents on. We are for ever cleaning it and likewise it is not worth changing it as Pip is old and can’t help it. Have a marvellous Monday.
    Best wishes Molly

I was the perfect puppy (in my mind anyway) I really did not ruin anything except for throw rugs. I chewed them up until I was almost 3! We still have some of them because mom can’t find new ones that she likes as much. Bummer the pup is peeing on them, that is serious bad dog behavior!

MOM and I did not even notice it was frayed and crappy. Now if you took a photo without the Fin and Charley maybe we would have.

We don’t mind…it takes time to establish trust. Plus, we have a whole house full of crappy carpet, so we don’t judge (ha).

Well do we have a crappy carpet story for you…..all of us pugs actually think carpet and throw rugs really mean pretty colored pee pads……mom loves throw rugs, and since we have came into her life, and she has had to throw away 100 zillion of them, she had to stop buying them, she just put a new big rug under the dining room table and no one actually touched it for three days, and now for some reason baby gussie has to pee on it at least once a day…mom was mad at herself more than Gussie. Our wood floors need refinishing so our pictures always show crappy floors. Mom is fixated with everyone else’s nice floors on here tho and she is always looking at them, she has threatened to send us to live with these people cos apparently they are much smarter than her when it comes to housetraining.
    That is what she says.

Peeing on the carpet definitely qualifies for Mischief Monday…but I never noticed any fraying in your photos. The new carpet will be that much sweeter when the day comes that you can unroll it!

WE think that Frayed Carpets are a sign of a HOME versus a House… we would much rather have a HOME. Just sayin!!

We like F&E’s comment. Our Mom has been very clever in what she picks out for our HOME. Our endless shedings of pug hair blend nicely with the carpet (when they were picking the carpet out they actually brought samples home and rubbed them around in the pug hair to see what hid it the best !! ) and the kitchen flooring hides dirt really well HA HA HA

We are having potty training issues with Harlow. She is now tied to one of us at all times with a leash. It’s been a little more difficult, but we are day 4 without an accident and she is actually alerting us that she needs to be let out. Good luck with Charlie!

Awwwwwwww – just a minor setback. Honestly, we never noticed the fray! Have you ever noticed that one side of our rug has fringe and the other side doesn’t? Yup, mom cut it off because it was frayed so badly. We pups don’t fray rugs anymore! You’ll get there, Charley!

    Love ya lots♥

Wow, I have to admit that when I was a pup my Mom said all of our furniture came from the Frankenstein Collection! BWAR HAR HAR It was all stitched up and looked awful. I personally think these things look better once they are properly broken in. New and nice is overrated and definitely not more comfy! BOL

Hmm wonder why he started peeing on it again? I also wonder whether a new rug would discourage the peeing?

All the logos look great…really hard to choose.

We gave up on carpets completely. We used to have nice braided rugs but between dogs and cats having accidents or getting sick, it felt like a losing battle. I’ve learned to love plain wood floors! Someday maybe you can get out your pretty rug though, Finnie’s Mom…hang in there. Anyway, we don’t mind!! We’re all dog lovers so we’re used to that kind of thing – we understand! 🙂

We think the old rug looks nice and comfy. A new rug would be terrible to nap on, its probably all stiff and has that “new” smell all over it–blah.

The Rug sounds like fun – where can I get one?

Pee Ess My person says you need an enzyme cleaner to eat all the smell of pee so that Charlie won’t want to pee on it again. But really, what’s the fun in that?

  32. Pip
    Jun 03, 2013 @ 22:39:01

We have rug issues, too! We have finally just given up and only have rugs in the basement where Pip doesn’t go (because he can’t do the stairs anymore) unless he is with us and we carry him downstairs.

I dunno. I wonder if I missed the tap on the back door signal he picked up from Finn to let us know he needed to go out? It was just a couple of times, so I am thinking it passed.

You are very wise dog parents. When I got adopted mine had all new furniture and a handmade rug she bought in Tibet (which I chewed a big hole in). Love Dolly
