A Visitor!

If you haven’t already realized, we live way out in the boondocks.  We are about an hour’s drive away from our immediate families. They don’t often come for a visit (WE always have to go visit THEM, but I am not bitter, no sir, nope not at all, ahem), so I was really excited when my aunt told me she was going to be in the area one afternoon and she was stopping over.

And OMD, Finn and Charley could not have been more psyched.  I had them on the ground, really I did, but my aunt said it was just fine and she let them kind of go nutso.

I imagine that if Finn was narrating this post, she would have said that somedog was decidedly the favorite!

We hadn’t had anyone new in the house to meet Charley since his first week at home, so we were curious how he would do. It went a lot better than I had thought it would, I have to say. Anyways, I just want to thank my aunt for stopping by and making the schlep out here, we hope she comes back soon!

this post made me laugh. i live in jersey city, about an hour and ten minutes from my father in law and four hours from my mom (my mom can’t travel). i dont have bothers or sisters. anyway a lot of my friends live in manhattan or the nyc boroughs and they NEVER and I mean never come to our house, it would be an hour trip. I dont mind since Id rather go into the city then clean the house but as a result our dogs are so not conditioned to guests that they flip if someone comes over barking jumping, etc but they are friendly. when we lived in manhattan years ago with tubby norbert and ping they were so used to having people come over that they barely got of the couch.

Oh I sort of go a little nuts for the first few minutes, or 15, when a visitor comes. Good to hear that someone stopped by and enjoyed Finn and Charley so much..

We live in the sticks too. I had an older couple come visit on Wednesday and Grady was just an idiot as usual. He’s particularly attracted to men because when my son visits, they wrestle and romp through the house.

We live in full blown suburbia, but it’s pretty far out from the city (DC). When we first moved out here, our friends used to joke that they needed a passport to travel this far…oh, and did they need to get vaccine shots to come out here? LOL! They never do visit…..

How nice you had company! You can tell by the blurry tail wags that Finn and Charley totally enjoyed it. Our dogs like to greet people in that same manner, and it’s sure great when people don’t mind that.

I’m surprised you don’t have visitors all the time. Your house is like a little get-away, PLUS you have Finn & Charley.

COMPANY is soooooooo fun. They don’t know the RULES. THAT is grrreat isn’t it? We are super glad that you had company come visit.

WE kinda live in the Boondocks too. Butt we do get some company.. We think it might be Mom’s Home Made Cookies that bring them.

We don’t get a lot of company either so we do get quite excited when someone comes over. Mom also realized that we aren’t so great when we go to new places and she was glad that park day inspired her to get us out so we could work on our good behavior when we meet new dogs at new places.

Just the opposite here lately…with all the geocaching events in Lakeland last weekend we had over 100 people come by the house in 3 days…and Gizmo went out to greet each and every one and show them where the cache is hidden…he loves having visitors and a lot of them had to have their pictures taken with him,,,,I was so proud

I love your blurred tails of excitement I don’t have a tail, but my little nubbie moves
back and forth with excitement whenever we have visitors.

Shoot, SHE drives to Sydney for dinner with friends. Six hour drive each way. Gets home about 3:30 a.m. What wimps!

Our Auntie who lives in Virginia…up a mountain with a gradient of 45 degrees wags her tail like the pups when anyone visits her, too.

Glad to see you enjoyed your company. We rarely, very rarely have company (once or twice a year) and like a few others commented, the dogs go crazy. After a few minutes they settle and go about their usual silliness.

We don’t think an hour drive is that far. Most of the people we visit are at least that far away. Heck, we drive 45 minutes just to go to the vet and that’s travel time on a good day!
